Beyond Ecstasy (Beyond, Book 8) ~ Kit Rocha

 photo Blurb Black Scratch_zpsljbvqx5c.png

The next-to-last book in the bestselling BEYOND series...

The O’Kanes have a reputation for working hard and playing harder—except for Hawk. He joined the gang with one goal: to ensure his family’s survival through the impending war with Eden. It’s been years since he had the luxury of wanting anything for himself. Now, he wants Jeni. From the first moment he saw her, he’s been obsessed with making her his. Not for a night—forever.

Jeni’s been lusting after the former smuggler for months, but he keeps shutting her down. She’s almost given up on getting him in her bed when he offers her the last thing she ever expected—a collar. Accepting it means belonging to him, body and soul. It’s a reckless gamble, but Jeni can’t resist the chance to slip under Hawk’s armor.

The only thing more shocking than the dark, dangerous pleasure they discover is how right it feels. But falling in love is even more reckless when forever is far from guaranteed. Because they aren’t just at war, they’re out of time—and every breath could be their last.

I absolutely love this series!! I love the post-apocalyptic feel with spark of revolution in the sectors. I would totally want to be an O’Kane if I was living in the sectors.

Hawk and Jeni sizzle in this book. You can feel the sexual tension rolling off of them and while Jeni seems to be the aggressor in the relationship, we learn early on that Hawk wants more than casual.

 photo Hot_zpspdul3bji.gif

Based on his upbringing in sector 6, Hawk is not used to the O’Kane way with sharing women and casual sex. He wants Jeni all for his own and it is super-hot when he lets go. Jeni doesn’t realize how long or how much Hawk has been thinking, no dreaming about her, until he offers ownership. Not only does he want to own her, but he wants Jeni to own him.

I love Kit Rocha’s writing, but I am totally bummed that we are getting close to the end of this series. That being said, I am super excited for the spin-offs because I love the O’Kane family and cannot wait to see what happens in this War with Eden! O’Kane for Life!

Dirty Angel ~ Barbara Elsborg

Dying Sucks

Particularly when you discover there really is a hell. Aden thinks there’s no way he can avoid going down, but when an angel and demon can’t agree over his fate, Aden is given one more month to gain redemption. He doubts he can find a way to become a better man in so short a time. But it’s worth a try, right?

Living sucks
Particularly when you can’t shake free of an obsessive ex. Brody might be managing to hold down his job as a vet, but his personal life is a mess. If he doesn’t pull himself together soon, he’s going to be sliding downhill too fast to stop.

One wet night, on a dark country lane, two worlds collide and destinies change forever.

I’m a huge paranormal romance fan, but I have not had the pleasure to read  Barbara Elsborg before. After reading the blurb, I was definitely excited and once I started I couldn’t put it down. I think we all have our Good and Bad angels whispering in our ears, but Dirty Angel brings them to life.

Aden has a rough past and in his eyes, he’s a bad person. There isn’t a good bone in his body. When he dies and the angel and demon can’t decide his fate, he’s completely shocked. He thought he was going to hell for sure. Then when he’s given a second chance to prove the good in him, he gives it a shot, but not without thinking that it’s a waste.

Brody is living in his own hell. He can’t shake his crazy ex and he finds himself in really rough sexual situations due to his ex’s brain washing. The first night Brody meets Aden, it’s under some pretty “slippery” circumstances and Brody spends the rest of the night looking for him.

I absolutely loved these characters and believed that Aden was always a good person. Unfortunately, when we find out about what he did in his past, it’s difficult to believe that he really can be a better person. I was really rooting for these two, but then Brody’s ex shows back up. UGH! Total angst!

Barbara was able to get me back in to my paranormal craze. It was so good. These characters were absolutely loveable, sexy and broken. Loved the second chance story and the hot M/M scenes.

Until June: Until Her Series #2 ~ Aurora Rose Reynolds

 photo Synopsis black scratch_zpst2tpkl6v.png
June Mayson and Evan Barrister’s whirlwind courtship resulted in a secret marriage right before he left for boot camp. Evan knows deep in his gut that June is too good for him, but after getting a taste of the beautiful life they can have together, he’s unwilling to let her go. June promises to wait for him, knowing neither time or distance will ever change her feelings for Evan—that is until she’s served with divorce papers while he’s overseas and she’s forced to let him go.

Her marriage and divorce a well-kept secret, the last person June expects to run into when she moves back to her hometown is Evan. Angry over the past, she does everything within her power to ignore the pull she feels whenever he is near. But how can she ignore the pain she sees every time their eyes meet? How can she fight the need to soothe him even if she knows she’s liable to get hurt once again?

Is it possible for June and Evan to find their way back to each other again? Or will they be stopped by an outside force before they ever have a shot?

This was my first Aurora Rose Reynolds book (I know….Hangs head in shame) and I loved it. Her writing style flowed perfectly and I fell in love with her characters.

I’ll be honest, when I first read about Evan and June’s secret marriage and divorce; I wanted to punch Evan in the throat. As I continued reading though, I saw what was going on in Evan’s head and ended up feeling bad for him. His own screwed up thoughts caused him to push away probably the best thing in his life.

June and her crazy family had me laughing. I loved how close they all were, which surprised me since she kept her marriage and divorce a secret. Obviously her family could tell she went through something, but they couldn’t figure out what. Keeping all that in definitely damaged June and when Evan returns, I could understand her walls and bitterness. She still loved him and it hurt.

The two of them struggling to move forward separate, while they both only wanted to be together, broke my heart. I had my fingers and toes crossed hoping that they would talk and find their way back to each other. ::Sigh::

Devil's Kiss (Sunset Cove Series Book 2) ~ Ella Frank

 photo Synopsis black scratch_zpst2tpkl6v.png

What do you do when the one you least expect to matter…

Ends up mattering the most?

Derek Pearson likes to think he’s an easygoing guy. Uncomplicated, upfront, and unapologetic with what he wants. His what you see is what you get attitude is on prominent display for anyone who cares to look, and his foul mouth is right there to back it up should you miss the point.

However, what you see isn’t always what you get, and only a select few have ever glimpsed the real man under the brash exterior.

Among them? Professor Jordan Devaney. Complicated, high-maintenance, and vibrant, he’s Derek’s opposite in every way. From the moment they saw each other, a love-hate relationship began.

But what happens when one person wants more?

photo Review Black Scratch_zpspsc2gzcp.png photo 5 metalsilver stars_zpssk813gd5.png
I loved Jordan and Derek’s story. Please don’t hate me, but I loved it more than Brantley and Finn’s. It was not what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Jordan’s fiery personality did not prepare me for the type of lover he would be. His huge heart was hidden behind his genius and antics, but none the less, his heart is huge. He sees the shields that Derek puts up and takes a chance on helping him.

Derek is stubborn and prideful. He personality is straight forward and abrupt at times. Seeing the things he goes through with his family, its no wonder he has so many walls built. I mean, Finn’s the only one who really knows him, until Jordan.

Jordan and Derek’s chemistry is off the charts! I often had to fan myself after one of their arguments because you could feel the sexual tension. Ella did a fantastic job of writing these characters and their story.

Crave Me (The Good Ol' Boys #4) ~ M. Robinson

They say in order to find yourself you have to go home.
What if home was what you were running from?

Where did that leave you?

Always on the other side of the fence.

Always looking in.

Always wishing you were someone you couldn't be.

Until one day you meet her.

The one.
She was my high, but she was also...

My demise.

STANDALONE within a series. This is a Full Length Novel.

I don’t even know where to begin. I mean, this book…..this book hit close to home. Not only did it make me think of a time where I dated an addict and how, in turn, became wrapped up in that world too, but Austin also said things that my husband actually says to me now. It’s just crazy how this story resonated with me.

“Anytime you want to talk about your parents, I’m here to listen. I wish I could have met them, so I could tell them how amazing their daughter is and how much I’m in love with her.”
~Austin

I lost my dad when I was 19 and my mom when I was 21. I was searching for comfort and love since I had just lost my biggest supporters. Austin wasn’t much different. He also felt he didn’t belong and had to prove himself. He, like the other boys, was jealous of the bond Half Pint and Bo had, which just caused him to feel more lost. His using started as fun and partying, but then ran away from him so he could drown his sorrows. And it’s true, at some point you ask yourself, how did it get this bad…..yet, you have no answer. The hardest part is that Austin is a talented, loving, devoted and gorgeous man that had demons bigger than he could initially cope with.

"I need you, baby, I need you like I need fucking air to breath. I'm nothing without you! NOTHING! Please.....just fucking help me!"
~Austin"

I connected with Briggs in a sense that she always had to take care of herself. When she finally meets Austin and the alpha that he is, she relishes in the fact that he wants to take care of her. She can let go and feel safe and loved by someone, especially since she was lacking it from her uncle. She enabled Austin, but truly she didn’t know what was going on in Austin’s head to help him. While she blamed herself, she really couldn’t do anything until Austin was ready to. Briggs is beautiful, sweet, and smart, but often felt helpless and broken since she couldn’t help the one person she loved more than anything.

Austin and Brigg’s story tore my heart to shreds and had me reflecting on my own past. It churned my gut and made my heart ache. There was a lot of angst, but also a lot of love. Seeing certain times in the Good Ol’ Boys’ lives from Austin’s point of view was certainly eye opening and just made me want to hug him more. M’s writing was exceptional, as always, and she was able to tap in to the struggles that an addict has, as well as the struggle their loved ones go through. Absolutely brilliant!

Always His (Crazed Devotion #1) ~ C.A. Harms

Forgiveness …
It isn’t always as easy as it sounds.

Becoming a Marine had been Ryker’s dream, but that dream faded when it led to losing the one girl who held his heart.

Returning to Alabama after being gone for more than five years was going to be hard, but he couldn’t continue to live without her.

His world seemed empty and there was only one thing that could heal that void.

Find Nicole…

Beg for her forgiveness…

And never let her go again.

She would always be his...

 photo silver 4.5 stars_zpschgwimf2.png

I love a man in uniform. Couple that with his love and devotion for Nicole and I was a goner.

Ryker was young and stupid. He knew that Nicole wouldn’t be able to leave their hometown in Alabama, but he left any way. He knew if he asked her, she wouldn’t have been able to go, but he felt it was best to just let her go. He thought he was doing right by Nicole, but he only broke her heart….and his
.
When Nicole picks up the pieces of her heart and her life, Ryker returns. I could feel her conflict of emotions. She loved him and probably never stopped loving him, but so much has happened in the 5 years that Ryker has been gone. Nicole is hurt and angry, but she also misses the connection that she and Ryker shared.

 photo 13566829_zpseoh2qaxx.gif

Ryker is persistent, dedicated and devoted. Even though he left Alabama and Nicole, that’s where his heart was the whole time. I loved their story and C.A.’s writing.
